Black Door Barber Co. was established in 2017 As the first tattoo–barber shop in the state of Maine. Our goal is to bring a new standard of quality with each and every haircut to the barber industry in Portland. Specializing in traditional barbering such as pompadours, side parts and slickbacks while maintaining the versatility to keep up with today's current trends and whatever haircut will best suit our clients needs.
Appointments are suggested, but walk-ins are welcome.
Curran Candage from Portland, Maine has been a licensed barber for around a decade and counting. He won the Portland Phoenix award for Best Barber in the city of Portland in 2016. Specializing in traditional barbering such as pompadours, slickbacks, and side parts. Curran is a former educator for Reuzel Pomade, Coming equipped with knowledge gained traveling & teaching at many events around the US.
Mark was born and raised in Portland, ME. His barber journey began in 2018. Before barbering, he spent some time after high school traveling the country and playing guitar in bands. During this time He met Curran candage who mentored him and taught him the trade.
From flat tops to mullets (emphasis on the mullets), Colin is ready with a great passion for hair. A salty New England nomad, Colin spent his formative years traveling, playing music, and taking photos. In 2015 he started pursuing a long time dream in Barbering. Colin has been mentored and worked next to multiple award winning barbers in New Hampshire, but has decided to set his roots down in Portland.
Whether it be classics or modern styles, Becca is passionate about it all. Originally from Chicago, she is excited to connect with more of the community here in Portland. During her 14 years in the industry, Becca has worn many hats from education to editorial, but at the end of the day being at the shop with her patrons is what she loves most. She has played a pivotal role in developing barbering education programs that are used worldwide for men’s grooming companies such as WAHL, MENSDEPT, and Reuzel and is fortunate to be able to apply that knowledge behind the chair.
Tim, a skilled barber whose precision and attention to detail stem from his years of service in the United States Marine Corps. Whether it's a classic, clean cut or a bold, modern style, Tim's goal is to bring each client's unique vision to life. When not at the shop, Tim can be easily found at Bayside Bowl or in the local streams and rivers fly fishing.
All cancelations require 4 hours or more notice or client will be charged on their next service.
All no shows will be charged the price of one haircut on their next service.
All clients arriving to their appointment with product in their hair will be required to buy a hair wash & shampoo before their service (great quality starts with clean hair.)
